Pros and Cons of the Senreve Maestra Bag

I’ve been asked about the Senreve Maestra bag quite a bit lately after it appeared on my Instagram stories. I also mentioned it briefly on the blog once in a story recap. It’s definitely become a closet classic for both work and play. Before I dive into all of the reasons why I love it, let me give you an overview of Senreve. The brand was inspired by women who do it all and need a bag that was not only up for the task but would look great too. Senreve believes that you can have a high-quality stylish purse that’s extremely functional.

I’ve been using the Maestra bag for almost a year, but the Senreve brand has been on my radar for a few years. I loved their approach and how they focused on the everyday working woman. This made the product more relatable to me and how it can be used on a daily basis.

Pros

Quality: The first thing you’ll notice about the bag is the time and quality that went into making this handcrafted Italian leather bag. Everything from the pebbled leather to the stitching, you can see and feel the quality in the material. Having had my bag for almost a year, the bag is still in great condition. Due to minor wear and tear, the edges are slightly dirty and scuffed up, but they can be cleaned off with a cloth. The same holds true for the microsuede lining. The quality is top-notch and I love that it’s incredibly soft and can be cleaned with a wet cloth.

Multi-functional Straps: One of my favorite features of the bag is that it can be worn different ways. The bag can transition from a backpack, which is great for a mom on the go. You can adjust the straps to fit perfectly on top of your luggage. This makes it a breeze to get through the airport. The bag also offers a shoulder strap. This is perfect when trying to grab something out of the bag while on the go. The straps make the bag extremely functional.

Options: The Maestra bag is now available in three different sizes — original size, midi and mini. You can also order the bag in fifteen different colors and two different styles of leathers — pebbled or mimosa.

Styles

The Mini Maestra

Traveling and want something stylish to wear daily, the mini is so functional and keeps your stuff protected.

The Midi Maestra

Not someone who carries around a computer, but loves the functionality, highly recommend the Midi.

The Maestra

The ultimate commuter and travel bag. I love that it fits a computer and a notebook.

Cons

Cost: Up until recently many of you may not have heard of Senreve. It’s not a household name yet. Although the bag is really well made, I think the bag is slightly overpriced. It’s a lot of money to invest in a brand that hasn’t built up a reputation yet.

Size: The medium Maestra is relatively large, especially for someone of my size. You’d expect to fit a lot in the bag, but with the structure of the bag, you can typically fit the bare minimum; computer, makeup bag, phone, water bottle, and a magazine/book. It fits the same amount of things as my Fendi 2Jours Tote.  A friend of mine bought the large Maestra bag in black based on my recommendation. However, She decided to return it because she couldn’t fit enough in the bag. She loved the design and style, but she wanted to fit more than her work essentials. She ordered from Shopbop, who is owned by Amazon, so she took advantage of the 2-day shipping and 14-day return policy.

Overall

I love this bag and highly recommend it. I use it all the time and it gets plenty of compliments, especially when worn as a backpack. The bag looks great and has enough functionality to make it worth the purchase. Whether you’re heading into the office or traveling with the Maestra, it’s effortless in its ability to keep you stylish and organized. Like us modern day woman, it manages to do it all! Can’t wait to see what else Senreve releases this summer.

What other questions do you have about the Maestra Bag?

How heavy do you find the bag? I’m interested in the midi but I’m only 5’1 and need it to fit my 13″ laptop, Water bottle, and wallet 🙂 would the midi look ridiculous for my height?

Hi Mandy! I’m also 5’1″ so this is what the bag would look like on you. It’s big, but not too big where it looks bad. The bag is heavier than some other bags. But nothing that isn’t manageable. Hope that helps!

    Hi Olivia,
I received a Maestra in the mimosa leather recently as a gift and LOVE it. I’ve used it everyday for 2 months now. However some of the seams around the straps have come apart. I’ve only carried my laptop in it maybe twice. Have you had this problem at all in the year you’ve had yours? I really hope mine is just a defect and can be fixed. I just wanted to know if you’ve experienced anything similar since you’ve had yours longer.

Great Review! Just for Clarification, the size you are wearing in the pictures is in Midi? I was confused since the link was for the full size Maestra.

    Hi Olivia,

You said this was the Midi Maestra in the information listed above?

I asked Senreve if the Midi will fit a 13 inch laptop and they told me that it wouldn’t fit.
Would love to get the medium vs larger bag.

Can you comment on this? Does the laptop need to be on the center in order to zip?

    Thanks.

    Karen

I checked with Senreve. A 13” computer will fit in the center compartment of the Midi Maestra, just not in the padded computer side pocket.

I know it’s been a few months since you posted this. Still this review was very in-depth and was one of many reviews that helped me decide to purchase this bag. Furthermore, it was nice that you clearly mentioned the pros and cons of the bag (size is important since I’m petite).

However, I had a very bad experience with this company this week when I ordered one of their bags, and would like to share my experience ordering from this company for the first time.

I ordered the medium maestra in mimosa bordeaux. Once I got the email comfirming payment and that the order was shipped I received another email from them stating that they stopped the shipment, asking me to disregard the tracking number and order ID, and their employees were requesting I send a photo of my Amex card and my ID card to verify I was the owner. I contacted Amex and they confirmed that the card was already charged. Because they already received the payment I
was advised not to comply with their extra request. I am deeply disappointed by this low and dishonest level of service. I have
cancelled my order and I won’t be buying their product or recommending it to others in the future.

Thank you for your review. I have been eyeing this for a long time. I want to use it for work (and for work to dinner) among other things. I need to be able to carry make-up bag, wallet, lunch, extra shoes and other essentials, maybe a file folder. I’m 5’10”, so not worried about the bag looking too large on me. Your assessment of how little it holds concerns me. Thoughts? Much appreciated!!
