A Father’s Bucket List
Hi everyone! Matt here.
As a first time father, I am learning everything on the go. I read a little bit from”Dad” books to get prepared but I really wanted to just go with the flow. It could just be that he is super relaxed and we haven’t really had any moments of pure fear…yet. He is growing up so fast! Grabbing at everything, moving backwards and putting anything he finds in his mouth. So, I’m sure that bit of anxiety is right around the corner.
I’m always thinking about all the things I want to do with Sebastian once he is old enough; like play soccer, go to football game in the snow, go on a tour of The Natural History Museum, and so on. There are so many activities and places for us to do and go once he gets older. It’s funny because as kids, we want to grow up so fast and hang out with the older kids. Little did we know, we would be grown up, done with school and working a full time job. Happens so fast. I have kick myself and remember to just enjoy each day with Sebastian because he will be older before we know it. Besides we will have plenty of time to do all those things. That being said, it’s fun to make lists of the places I want to take Sebastian. Most of them are actually things I’ve never done… yet. Sebastian goes on nearly every trip with us now but these things are worth waiting for so he will remember. Below is my bucket list (subject to change) as of today.
Bucket List
#1 Attend a Manchester United game at Old Trafford in England
#2 Go Great White Shark Cage Diving (I did Guadalupe Island in 2014)
#3 Camp out in Yellowstone National Park
#4 Go to space camp in Huntsville, AL
#5 Take a safari trip in Kenya
#6 Attend the British Open in the UK
#7 Go to a Green Bay Packers game in the snow
#8 Ski Squaw Valley in Lake Tahoe (use to be my favorite when I lived in SF)
#9 Ride the Bernina Express through southern Switzerland
#10 Go to a Koala Sanctuary in Australia (favorite animal growing up)
As fun as all this stuff is going to be, they can wait. I just love being Sebastian’s Dad and regardless of what happens each day, it’s going to be awesome. Thanks to my amazing wife for making my job so easy. Love you! Happy Father’s Day to all the other Dads out there!
