I’ve been following Gwyneth Paltrow for years and her lifestyle brand, Goop. Her site includes all the latest from healthy recipes to her own Detox diet. I recently started reading Gwyneth’s new book, Goop Clean Beauty, and I’ve already learned quite a bit more about skincare and healthy tips. Love her or hate her, Gwyneth has certainly made a name for herself in the health and fitness space and after using her products and reading her book, there is good reason! Last year she launched a skincare line with Juice Beauty called Goop Skincare, and I was really excited to try it out.
I received the Discovery Set by Goop Skincare a little bit ago and I was SO eager to give it go! As we all know Gwyneth Paltrow is a self-proclaimed health nut, but I must say I was skeptical that her products would live up to all the wellness hype. Seldom actually do but Goop does and now I’m hooked. One thing about her skincare, it does comes with a steep price tag. Is it worth it? After using it for the last two weeks, I’ll admit, it’s worth it. Someone with incredibly dry skin, I’ve been on an endless quest to find oils and creams to keep my skin feeling moisturized and nourished. This little set did the trick. The Discovery Set contains travel sizes of the day moisturizer, face oil, night cream, and exfoliator. My personal favorite is the face oil.
The day moisturizer is a creamy medium weight lotion and packs the oils back into your skin. Even as I sit here and apply a small sample to the back of my hand, I can see the glowing shine on my skin. Everyone’s skin is different, but mine quickly absorbed the lotion and it locked the moisture in.
Someone who has always struggled with dry skin, I’m always on the lookout for products, mainly moisturizers, that will add more oils to make my skin feel supple and youthful. One thing I did notice about the moisturizer is that there’s no SPF, so I’d recommend wearing a primer or foundation with SPF to protect your skin.
Exfoliators are a common product in my skincare routine and the Goop Exfoliating Instant Facial works wonders. I used it every other day, because of the effectiveness of the cleansers. The cream is lightweight with tiny exfoliating beads to get rid of dead skin cells.
After cleansing your face, you gently add a small amount to your face and be sure not to scrub too hard. You leave the facial on for 2-3 minutes and wash off with cold water. After washing off, I could instantly see it left my skin looking brighter and fuller. Next, I applied the Revitalizing Day Moisturizer for extra protection. The facial left my skin feeling soft and smooth, especially in some of my problem areas. What I love most about this product is that a little goes a long way!
My skin changes so often, especially living in a big city like New York with lots of dirt and pollution. My skin also changes with any fluctuation in the temperature. With all the cold weather hitting the East Coast, my skin has been begging for more moisturizers and oils to add nourishment back. The Goop night cream is a medium to heavy cream leaving the skin feeling luxurious and smooth. As it glides over the skin, you can instantly feel a change in your skin as the moisture sets in. The cream does also contain Vitamin A, which is an anti-aging ingredient. Who doesn’t want that in their life?!
One of the other reasons, I loved this cream is that it didn’t leave my skin feeling sticky. Some night creams are tend to be too thick and leave a film of stickiness on my skin. This leasds to an uncomfortable night of sleep with my skin sticking to my pillow. Now more than ever, I need a good night’s rest and can’t afford to be let down by product. When you wake up the following morning after using their night cream, you can feel that the cream was working all night and it gives your skin that little bit of extra glow.
Saving the best for last! The Enriching Facial Oil is my personal favorite. As much as I love a good moisturizing cream, facial oils have proven to give my skin the extra nourishment it needs on a daily basis. I used a light layer of the oil beneath my Revitalizing Day Moisturizer and then I packed it on at night before applying the Replenishing Night Cream. Overall the oil is light to medium and my skin absorbed it immediately!
What I’ve found with some oils is that they’re simply too oily. At certain times of the year, I want a product that has a more oily texture. In the summer, when I have my bronze skin is back and not wearing a lot of foundation or makeup, I like a little more oil. However, during the winter months I want an oil that can be applied under a moisturizer and foundation. I also love using it throughout the day. I’ll apply a light layer to my fingertips and pat on over makeup for a midday refresh! The one characteristic that stood out about the oil is the scent. At 99% organic, you can smell the fresh ingredients in the product. Not too potent, it’s just subtle enough!
The Discovery Set was the perfect introduction into the Goop Skincare line, especially at $125. If you’re interested in testing the waters, this is the best way to figure out if this skincare is right for you going forward. Next I’m excited to try out the Luminous Melting Cleanser and I’ll be sure to let you how it goes. Also, can’t wait to finish her book, Goop Clean Beauty. Let me know if you have any questions about the Goop products or your feedback if you have already given them a try. Would love to hear your experiences! Also, if you are using something right now that you are absolutely in love with, please let me know. Have an amazing finish to your week! Thanks for reading.
