Friday, March 13th 2020 is the date I look back on when everything seemed to change. I remember feeling completely different about things. When I looked around my office before locking up for the day, it just wasn’t the same I feeling I usually got. For whatever reason I paused that evening and reflected on everything that was happening in the world, not to mention I was nine months pregnant and the COVID-19 pandemic taking over NYC. That day became the last one I’d ever set foot in the office to work. Then the very next day, Saturday, March 14th, I went into labor. This is when it all changed…
Sunday, March 22nd, New York City was officially ordered to “shelter in place” till further notice.
As days passed, the uncertainty continued. Then weeks passed. Matt and I decided to make the tough decision of closing down the business till further notice. I wrote about this in a previous post. At the time, we weren’t sure how we’d move forward. We just knew we had to figure out a way to do it. After several nights of talking through different ideas and scenarios, we decided to make Corporate Catwalk available to everyone and launch the Corporate Catwalk e-commerce site. To say we’re excited, is an understatement. It’s taken a tremendous amount of work and we are so thrilled to share this platform with you and so many other women in the workspace.
The idea of the e-commerce site was something that we were consistently getting asked about and requested from so many followers & subscription customers. We had been planning on launching our e-commerce business but it wasn’t scheduled to happen for a while. So, it actually aligned with our business plan, and we simply expedited the launch date. Due to the current environment here in NYC, we haven’t been able to have the kind of launch I envisioned, but we are doing what we can with what we have. Like so many other small businesses, we are trying our best in navigating this new world we find ourselves in right now. Even with all the uncertainty, there is always light at the end of the tunnel and new opportunities to capture if you are willing to work for it. So let’s talk about the new site!
We are your one place for all your work essentials. At the moment, we are focusing on the clothing aspect, but we will be launching several other product lines for the business in the near future. With so many of you now working from home, women(and men) in the workspace will see a drastic change. However, we will be here to guide you along the journey. Our goal is to be your one-stop shop for all your work essentials, whether you are at the office or working from home.
With the new Corporate Catwalk site, you’ll see we have all your workwear essentials, but we also have a wide selection of more business casual attire for those working from home. You can also source from our Top Sellers and Sustainable Collections. Both have beautiful pieces to add to your everyday work wardrobe. A few of my favorite are these trousers, blouse, lightweight knit dress and suspender earrings.
Be sure to tune into Instagram stories today, I’ll be sharing some of my favorite pieces in a try-on session.
To celebrate the launch, we’re offering 30% off your entire purchase! We’ll be running this special till Friday, so be sure to take a look at some of our favorite pieces and pick them up before they’re sold out. No code necessary. You’ll see the discount at checkout. We also have gift cards available!
One of the most frequently asked questions I get is if we are hiring. Yes! My biggest priority at the moment is bringing on a Virtual Assistant. I’ll have a detailed job description and share it on the Corporate Catwalk website later this week. We’ll also be building out our Buying and Planning team later in the year so keep an eye on our career page. If you’re interested in a position or simply want to be considered when more opportunities come out, please send your cover letter and resume to firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you for your interest.
One other question that I’ve been getting is around partnering with influencers. The answer is yes. We will be partnering with influencers and will have more details soon as we finalize the program. If this is something you are interested in participating in, please keep an eye out on our Influencer Partnership page. You can also email us directly at email@example.com.
I want to thank each and every one of you for all the support throughout this entire journey! You have helped more than you know and it’s truly helped keep me going when things seemed bleak. So excited for this and for what’s coming soon and hope you like everything we’ve been working on! Have an amazing week everyone.
