Workout Favorites & Fitness Journey Update

I can’t believe it’s been a little over 7 months since starting my fitness journey! I’ve been working out routinely since January 2021 and am pretty proud of how far I’ve come in a few short months. My workouts mainly consist of riding my Amazon Bike (currently on sale!) and going for walks/runs outside. One of the most asked questions is what I wear for my workouts and the equipment I use so I wanted to share my top fitness favorites with you. From activewear to shoes to accessories, these are my must-haves when it comes to working out.

Check out my favorite products and make sure to read the Q&A where I answer the rest of the most asked questions about my workouts, eating habits, and more!

Alo Airlift High Waist 7/8 Leggings

These leggings are my go-to for every type of workout! I personally love the 7/8 look and these leggings hit at the perfect spot. The high waistband stays up during all my workouts and looks really cute paired with their matching sports bra. These are also the perfect leggings for going from your workout to running errands and they come in 3 super fun colors; shadow grey, pink lava, and caf blue. I wear these year-round but I especially love the caf blue color for summer!

Alo Ribbed Wave Crop Long Sleeve

Between having two kids and work, I don’t always get the pleasure of showering immediately after my workouts, which is why I’m always reaching for crops that are both functional and cute. This workout top is flattering, comfortable, and keeps me looking fresh long after my sweat sessions. I absolutely love the one-shoulder detail on this crop because it keeps you from needing a t-shirt or sweatshirt over your sports bra. Aside from this beautiful gravel color, it also comes in white and black, making it the perfect neutral top to wear with any leggings or shorts.

Bala Bangles

These 1 lb. ankle/wrist weights are a total game-changer when it comes to fitness. Don’t underestimate the power of 1 pound weights, these Bala Bangles have really helped tone my arms and legs and will elevate any type of workout. I love throwing them on for walking or when I’m on my at-home bike. They also come in different sizes and colors!

APL Sneakers

My go-to shoes for working out. I love APLs because they last a long time, they’re comfortable, and they also come in lots of different styles and colors, making them perfect for any type of activity. They also just released a new running shoe, which I’ve been loving recently! Their sneakers are also great for pairing with athleisure when you need to run a few errands, take the kids to school, etc.

Amazon Bike

This is the bike that kickstarted my fitness routine! I love this bike because it’s affordable and easy to use. I just set my phone or iPad between the handlebars, open the Peleton app, and ride (my username is Oliviajeanette if you’d like to follow along with my workouts). I also love using the iFit app for my bike to switch up my classes! The Amazon bike is also currently $50 off, meaning this indoor bike is UNDER $300!

Beats Studio3 Wireless Over-Ear Noise Canceling Headphones

The BEST noise-canceling headphones. I wear these when riding my Amazon bike to make it feel more like I’m right in a live, loud, energetic cycling class. They don’t fall off and come in lots of fun colors. These would make a great gift for anyone!

Noli Yoga Activewear

Noli Yoga is a new brand I discovered this year and I’ve really enjoyed wearing their pieces for my workouts. Focused on high fashion and high comfort, their mission is to make you feel confident and chic by offering luxe pieces that seamlessly transition from any activity. They have really comfortable styles from sports bras to biker shorts to leggings and also offer unique patterns and colors!

Beach Riot Activewear

Another one of my favorite activewear brands is Beach Riot for its versatility from the gym to everyday life. Their styles are trendy yet timeless and make you look put together long after your workout is finished. I personally love their sets like this color block sports bra and matching leggings, which come in tons of colors!

Nordstrom Activewear Favorites

Another place I love to shop for activewear is Nordstrom because they carry a lot of my favorite brands like Alo, Adidas, and Beyond Yoga. Here’s a round-up of my favorite activewear pieces, which are currently on sale during the Nordstrom anniversary sale!

These 7/8 Alo Yoga Leggings and matching sports bra, which come in 3 different colors; shadow grey, pink lava, and caf blue.

This Beyond Yoga set is extremely comfortable and great for walking.

I love Adidas and these fun leopard print ones are will definitely sell out!

I think the tie-dye trend is here to stay and this cute FP Movement sweatshirt will carry you well into the winter months.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How was your weight loss journey while breastfeeding?

I actually started my weight loss journey after I stopped breastfeeding. As women, we take on a LOT after bringing our babies into this world, so I gave myself grace from working out during my breastfeeding months. That period alone is so stressful. For me, I have to consume an adequate amount of calories to produce milk consistently, so that was my main focus during that year post-baby.

However, towards the end of breastfeeding, I tried to clean up my diet and began moving my body more. With both pregnancies, I wish I would have been more active post-baby. Working out helps a ton with my stress levels and gets my endorphins pumping. If there’s one thing I can suggest to any new mom, it’s to get that body moving. It can be as simple as walking every day. I also experienced a lot of stress and anxiety after having both my kids and learned that working out really helped combat both of those things. After I stopped breastfeeding, my uterus went down significantly and I also noticed my appetite also decreased. That’s when I knew it was time to really start to focus on working out and reducing my calorie intake to reflect what my body needed without breastfeeding.

Q: How do you motivate yourself for achieving certain goals?

First, you have to set those goals. I know it sounds simple, but they are so important for both short and long-term success. I write my goals in the notes section on my phone, but you can also write them on a piece of paper and hang it somewhere where you’ll see them daily! One night I forced myself to sit down and write out my goals. In fact, you should do the exact same thing right now! After you’re done, come back and read the rest of this post.

I wrote down everything I wanted to achieve. Six months later, I’ve achieved 90% of those goals. I’m still working on the perky booty and strengthening my lower core. Once a month I’ll check in on my goals and include a recent progress photo. I love before and after photos. They keep me going. Knowing I made so much progress in such a short amount of time keeps me motivated. I also have a few photos of strong women who inspire me. It’s actually been a while since I’ve taken a progress photo, I should probably take one this week. After the miscarriage, it took time for my uterus to go back to normal. I gave myself some time to let that heal, but it’s been over a month, and seems like my body is getting back to normal.

Q: How do you mix workouts with your Amazon bike?

At the beginning of working out, I only did Peloton workouts. I’d do a mix of spin and classes. Then, beginning in April, I started doing 20-30 mins on the bike followed by weight training. This wasn’t every day, but this is when I started seeing results happen faster. I probably did this mix of workouts 3-4 times a week.

My ideal schedule would be:
  • Monday: 20 mins spin / 35 mins weight training
  • Tuesday: weight training / 2-mile run
  • Wednesday: 45 min spin / 20 min weight training
  • Thursday: weight training / 2-mile run
  • Friday: 45 min weight training
  • Saturday: Rest
  • Sunday: 30 min spin / 20 min weight training

This has yet to happen. So here’s a perfect example of me writing out my goals! 🙂 Most weeks I work out 4-5 times.

Q: What vitamins/supplements do you take?

Right now I’m only taking my collagen and Trim. I absolutely love both. Everyone’s experience is different, but after 3 months, I started to see a huge difference in my skin, hair, and physique. I take both every single morning!

In the next few months, I’d like to start adding more vitamins and supplements to my daily routine — looking at adding a daily vitamin and a probiotic.  Right now we’re getting in the habit of giving Sebastian his vitamins, I should be doing the same thing.

Q: I want to order TRIM, how long do you need to take it to see results?

I saw a difference after three months, but this is something that needs to be taken daily. It’s a lifestyle shift, but it doesn’t have to be drastic! I will say, with the Trim, I felt a difference after the first week of taking the supplement. It helped curb my appetite and gave me more energy throughout the day. Both things I really needed at the beginning of this journey. You still need to work out and eat healthy, this is not a miracle supplement. It aids in weight loss, but it’s not like the fat just naturally sheds when you take it, you still need to fuel and move your body. Following a healthy diet and exercise routine is key in seeing the benefits of this product.

Q: How much weight have you lost?

I’ve lost 20lbs since January 1st, 2021.

  1. So awesome! I have been following on Ig and it’s truly amazing how you have stuck with it and transformed your body (that was already looking fab!). I get it though, everyone has their own ideal of how they want their body to look and it’s cool to see results that arn’t drastic but still significant.

    Congrats!
