Ruffle Blouse Worn 3 Ways

Every season I look for a few staple pieces to form the foundation of my seasonal wardrobe. This fall is no different. A crisp white blouse is a staple for any women who wears a suit. Now take that blouse and add some detail to it. That detail can mean everything in an outfit and will allow you to form interesting and trendy outfits utilizing that one piece. Below I am showing you my cream ruffle blouse from Sezane.

Weekend Trendy

Someone once told me that they separate their closet into two sections; work and non-work clothing. As you can imagine, I was baffled. Mix and match your weekend and work pieces, it will make getting ready for work fun. This top is traditionally a more “work appropriate” top, but it can easily be worn with trendy pieces like I’m wearing in today’s look.

Mini skirts are a huge trend at the moment. This blouse comes in two other colors and can easily be worn with a mini skirt and flats or in my case, leopard booties. To make it a little more trendy, I grabbed this red statement bag that looks great with leopard. I love berets, so I tossed this on for an extra touch to the outfit.

Off Duty Look

My favorite off duty look is super simple; a black blazer, blouse and heels. It is classic and I just feel like Superwomen in this outfit. The detail in the blouse gives it some added detail and the printed clutch gives it some flair. I tend to wear diamond studs a lot but with this particular look, I’ll wear gold eye-drops or gold rings. This blouse will go with any color blazer you have and dependent on the month will match with any shade of denim. If you have pinstripes, even better.

Workwear

I love trousers almost as much as I love pencil skirts. The oversize strap in front is fun and paired with the ruffles of the blouse, it works great. Not too dressed up but still whispers business. I chose nude heels here but you could easily slip on a pair of black heels and it would look fantastic. It’s a simple look but very beautiful. Perfect for creative meetings with an agency or client. Easily transitions to after hours and you will be comfortable for hours. Love the simplicity of this outfit.

Last week, so many of you left me the sweetest comments about these types of posts. The point of these posts is for you to get more out of that “one shirt” you bought. There are so many ways to wear pieces in your closet, just need to get a little creative.

But tell me, do you want more of these posts? Weekly? Monthly? Casual offices? Corporate offices? Teachers? Talk to me. Tell me. Talk to me! 🙂

It’s Monday and I’m feeling motivational…

Ladies, it’s 2017. We own fashion in the workplace. Goodbye suits and ties. Hello faux leather, ruffles and statement sleeves. Force yourself to push the envelope.

I did.

People judged me, made comments, but I felt good when I walked into work. More importantly, it made a huge difference on my performance at the office. 😉

I’m loving these posts! I work in a corporate environment and we don’t have an official dress code as a result some people dress business casual (maybe even a bit more casual) while others go for business professional. I often struggle with what to wear and your posts help me put more thought and effort while stepping outside of the box. I definitely vote for these type of posts on a weekly basis.

I absolutely love these posts! Maybe you can expand to other types of staple items as well, like black booties, navy blue blazer, corduroy skirts, etc. I have some items that I bought because I loved and always end up struggling with incorporating them into an outfit! Thank you!!!

Love this and loved last week’s post too–I started following the blog a few years ago precisely for this kind of content.

I feel so much pressure to buy new things, when really I love what I have in my closet and just need some fresh ideas about how to style them. In particular, I’m always looking for how to make my workwear (I work in a business casual/business formal environment) creative and stylish, while translating pieces to the weekend. I have a pretty firm rule that 75% of my closet needs to work for both the office and the weekends.

Yea, no need to always buy new things. I think it’s just figuring out a new way to style the pieces your currently own.

That’s a great rule!! I’m the same way!

I absolutely am loving these posts!! I like that you mix and match, not only styles and for separate occasions but also affordable and higher end pieces. I love, love, love your blog! such an inspiration for my myself. I work in an elementary school setting but I’m an educational psychologist and I like looking a bit more professional than most teachers on my campus because I’m way younger than them and I realized that I am taken more seriously when I wear professional clothing! However, I also want to be stylish and fun!

    Thanks again!

YES!!! Please make this a weekly series! I absolutely LOVE posts on how to style a single item in several different ways. I wish I had the ability to look at an article of clothing and visualize different ways to wear it. But I don’t so I tend to stick to the same boring ways. That’s why I follow fashion blogs. But blogs that show how to wear one piece in different ways or how to mix and match a few pieces and make several outfits, etc are my faves. So I do hope you’ll make this a regular thing ?

Yes girl, yes! Love these posts! Weekly or bi-weekly would be great. I too agree with the idea of having fun statement pieces. I try to add some each season and always try to purchase pieces that can be styled in different ways (work/weekend wear). I work in a professional work environment but am afforded with the flexibility of implementing causal business wear as I please.

Love this blouse and this idea! Sometimes I struggle with how to incorporate what I already own into different looks. I focus on work wear for work, not realizing that I can totally wear the same blouse on the weekend for a dinner date with my husband.
