Look Good While Layering for Winter
I’ve received lots of questions about how to dress when it’s single digits outside.
I’m convinced that our trip to Quebec mentally prepared me for the NYC weather. Well, yes and no. Yes, in that I know if I can survive negative temperatures, I can get through another NYC winter. No, because I am still really cold right now. One thing I have begun to realize more and more is that you can still be just as stylish when it’s cold as when it’s warm. However, it can be harder because you tend to have to plan more in that more clothing is necessary this time of year. Don’t be discouraged. Here are a few ideas I have for staying stylish in the cold weather.
Halogen Wool Coat| Nautical Sweater | Shearling Boots | Hat | Jeans | Plaid Scarf | Sunglasses
Accessorize
If you like to wear a lot of accessories then be sure and use them in the cold. Pick up a pair of gloves, a couple hats, and scarves. Change up your looks by wearing your scarf in different ways and pairing with either a beanie, ball cap or beret. I’ve been on somewhat of a beret kick lately and I like it!

Don’t Hide
I know it’s cold. Sometimes, really cold. However, don’t hide under a giant snow coat. Layer. Add another layer. Start with inner-wear, add a turtleneck, a sweater, and a topcoat or parka. By changing up the layers you can customize warmth and create different looks like this one here.

Invest in Snow Boots
I say this because you will probably need them over the course of winter. Get a pair you are excited to wear. Ones that look good with your outfits. If you spot a pair that you love, get them! When the season is over, stow them away and have them available for next season. Good boots last. There are plenty of options out there that are stylish yet still keep your little toes warm. Just make sure to wear a thick pair of socks!

Stay warm out there! Oh, I have a favor to ask. Would anyone have a recommendation for a pair of black leather gloves? Thanks so much!

Thank you so much for this post! I’m one of those people that asked for a blog post about this. Lol. I live in Chicago and it gets to sub-zero temperatures quite often in January and February. It’s hard for me to try to be stylish and warm at the same time because of how darn cold it is. Thank you for this!! Also, Macy’s online website has tons of cute leather glove options. Some are on major sale too!
Hi Leslyjo!! Yay! Glad you like the post.
I’m going to take a look at Macy’s right now. I love one of my favorite gloves this year, so I need to pick up a few pairs while they’re on sale!

Love ❤️ your shots. Layering is the way to go . Having lived in a frigid region once , layering looks better and keeps you warmer!
