Today, I’m partnering with Of Mercer. Most of you will know their brand, but for those who don’t, Of Mercer represents the essence of quality workwear. They are based here in NYC and create beautiful clothing for work and beyond. As modern corporate women, we shouldn’t have to sacrifice quality for price or style for an office dress code. All of Of Mercer pieces are below $250, crafted from luxury Italian wool and specialty Japanese fabrics, and made right here in NYC. Check out their lookbook here.
For the everyday working woman, Of Mercer has a variety of dresses to choose from. I went down to their Flatiron showroom to check out their complete collection of dresses, blazers, sweaters and skirts. They were kind enough to pull a few looks they thought would be flattering for an expecting mommy. One of the looks I chose is the Sutton Wrap Dress made from ultra soft bamboo jersey. The dress is available in both regular and long. It also comes in several different colors; black, red, ultramarine blue, grey, fuchsia and teal. I’m a big proponent of the wrap dress, especially for work. There are a couple things to be mindful of when it comes to wrap dresses. They can sometimes come with a low bust line which may make it a little iffy for work. Just be mindful when purchasing if you plan to wear one to the office. Wrap dresses can also fall victim to the breeze. We have all had our dress blow everywhere in the wind and cause major leg cleavage. No bueno! Fortunately, the Sutton Wrap Dress helps with both of these concerns. The dress is adjustable in the bust area. They created an extra loop to bring up the wrap, which provides more support for the bust area. Another great feature is the button on the inside of the dress that holds everything in place. This helps with the wind blowing up your skirt as you’re walking to the subway. And last but not least, it’s also machine washable! Bye bye Mr. Dry Cleaner. This, of course, makes it a perfect dress for when you need to travel.
I also chose the Mott Shift Dress. As we start to transition into cooler weather, this Italian tweed is the perfect dress to add to your work wardrobe. As an expecting mother, I ordered a size larger than usual. Since the material is not stretchy, I wanted to leave room for my growing tummy. I chose heels for this look, but flats also go great for a casual day at the office. As you can see in the photos, it also has pockets — amazing! We don’t need a purse anymore when going around the block for an afternoon coffee break. I opted to wear this dress with a blazer for a more office appropriate look, but it can also be worn with a turtleneck underneath or cardigan. When winter hits, you can wear the dress with tights and booties. The Mott Shift is also available in blue multi-tweed.
Thanks to Of Mercer for sponsoring this post. Their retail store is on 21st between Park and Broadway in NYC.
