A good pair of jeans can make a world of difference. You want something with great style and fit. I hate the idea of having to sacrifice one for the other. Being petite, this can be especially tricky for me. Because of my height, length plays a significant factor in the fit for my body. I also spend a good portion of my day chasing a busy toddler around NYC so I want my jeans to be comfortable. There are tons of great deals on denim right now thanks to Black Friday weekend and Cyber Monday tomorrow Be sure to check out my Black Friday post for deal roundups. Here are the jeans I’m currently loving.
Since straight leg denim became really popular, I’ve been trying to find a pair that works for me and my shape. I think I’ve purchased every Levi’s denim style available I took a chance with these AGOLDE straight leg jeans. Over the summer, I purchased the Parker Vintage Loose Fit Cutoff Shorts and fell in love with the fit and quality. They were the only denim shorts I’ve ever owned and I worn them the entire summer. They fit my waist perfectly. AGOLDE seems to have a lot of denim that is high waisted and cropped, two things that work really well for my body.
Take a look at some of the styles below, my personal favorite are the Riley High Rise Straight Crop Jeans. They seem to work for a lot of body types as well.
I first discovered the brand in 2016. I immediately fell in love with the denim, particularly when I tried on the style I’m wearing in the above photos; the DL1961 Ryan Ankle Skinny Jeans (worn here). They’re also high- waisted and cropped, but I love that they have a raw hem and are slightly distressed. What I noticed about DL1961 is the feel of the jeans when I first put them on. They felt broken in and hugged my hips and legs perfectly.
One thing to note about DL1961 is their sustainability model. Their denim is started from scratch with fibers from the US and their facilities are solar powered! Did you know that a traditional pair of jeans is made using 1500 gallons of water? Whereas, DL1961 uses less than 10 gallons and recycles 98% of it. That alone makes me have a whole new appreciation for the brand!
On a whim, I decided to pick up a pair of J.Crew denim. I haven’t had the best luck with their sizing with from J.Crew and this pair unfortunately wasn’t different. Even though the sizing wasn’t perfect, I loved the loose slim relax fit of these jean. I’m between a size 25 and 26, but I could have easily gone down to a size 24 in these jeans. What I love most about this denim is styling them with my Golden Goose Sneakers or Mango flats. I love the casual style with the raw and ripped hem. If you do order, I’d recommend going down a size. Here’s a look at me wearing the denim.
2016 was a big year for me and AG Denim. I found this skinny cropped pair of denim and I wore them every day for a year. I finally branched out to wide-legged denim, but this first pair of AG Denim was my absolute favorite. I’m glad I started to explore more styles, but these will always be my favorites.
When it comes to AG, they have tons of different styles and colors, but I’ve found that these are a good “everyday denim”. You can easily style with boots, sweaters or a t-shirt. I love the versatility and I love that these always fit me in length. So rare to find a brand that time and time again fits you to a T. They seem to make the perfect cropped denim for my size.
Lately, I’ve seen a lot of bloggers post about this brand, so I wanted to give them a try. These Margot High Rise are the one pair of jeans that I’ve been reaching for every morning. They’re skinny and cropped, so I can wear them with either heels or tennis shoes. They also have a lot of stretch, so I can have a big lunch and not feel uncomfortable. I’ve been buying more jeans with raw hems or some distressed look to the style but this particular denim is very “clean”, making it a good style to wear almost anywhere. They also run true to size. I’m wearing a size 26 in the above photo. Here’s another look at the denim.
Every year I seem to need to a new pair of black denim. They always seem to fade the fastest. The pair that I love at the moment is this pair from Mother denim. Again, skinny and cropped, so it works for my body. They’re a little too long for my legs, so I find myself pulling up my pant legs throughout the day. BUT they are the most slimming denim I own at the moment. I contribute this to the high waisted style and the fact that they’re black. They just make me look slimmer. I’m wearing a size 26 in the above photo, but they’re snug. If you’re between sizes, I highly recommend going up a size.
