Everyday Statement Jewelry With Missoma

Typically when people want to make a statement with jewelry they go big and bold. I love these types of pieces as much as the next person but you don’t need them to make a statement with your accessories. Typically speaking they’re not for every day wear either. There’s a certain beauty and sophistication that exists in more delicate pieces. These allow you to express your style and add that extra special finishing touch to an outfit. Here’s how I select the perfect jewelry with the help of Missoma this fall.

Unique Details

You don’t need to rely on the size of your jewelry for it to be noticed. I look for pieces that have unique or interesting details. This can be in the finish, the use of semi-precious gemstones, or the shapes used in the piece. It’s especially great when you can find a piece that has more than one of these elements. For example, gold hoops are traditional but make them front facing and add mother of pearl, now, you have a great pair of earrings. You can also take a circular pendant necklace and add an additional geometric shape to make it more interesting.

I love this Aztec inspired design. One of my favorites that I wore in these pictures is the Body Language Initial M necklace. It’s like wearing a small piece of art. Quality is also an important thing to look out for. A beautiful, interesting piece is great but it’s always a let down when you spend money on something that falls apart quickly. This is another reason I love Missoma but I’ll get to that a bit later.

Layering

I talked about how to wear layered necklaces in this post. Layering necklaces is another way to make a statement with this style of jewelry. However, necklaces aren’t the only thing you can layer or stack. You can do this with bracelets, rings, and if you have multiple piercings, earrings too. There are a variety of ways to make your stacks and layers interesting. You can mix gold, rose gold, and silver. I love this gold bobble chain choker I’m wearing in these pictures for layering necklaces. The gold bobbles add an interesting element to the chain. You can add in pieces with semi-precious gemstones like rose quartz, turquoise, and many more. Having the proper balance of these elements results in a beautiful layered look. I’d also probably just stick to one jewelry type to focus on while keeping the rest of my pieces on the limited side.

About Missoma

One place I’ve been getting some of my favorite necklaces to layer is from Missoma. Marisa Hordern, the Founder and Creative Director of Missoma, has been collecting gemstones since she was just 5 years old. To this day she continues to travel to India to hand-source the gemstones that inspire a lot of the collections you see from the brand. I really admire that she followed her passion and it turned into a successful business with a gorgeous product.

Missoma’s pieces feature quality craftsmanship. Most pieces are produced in 18ct Gold Vermeil. This is sometimes confused with “gold plated” but there is a difference. The pieces all have a base of Sterling Silver and the gold has a thickness of 2.5 microns at a minimum. All pieces that qualify as Gold Vermeil are stamped with the 925 mark to indicate the purity of the silver. The plating process is known as “electrolysis” which makes the jewelry very durable. In addition to the durability, the pieces also have a layer of anti-tarnish to keep the jewelry looking beautiful.

Missoma offers the kind of variety needed to create interesting stylish layers and stacks to suit your personality. The hard part is choosing between their necklacesearrings, bracelets, and rings. These are the type of pieces you’ll reach for every day. If you’re looking for something a little more personal, they also offer a lot of engravable items too. This makes for a really thoughtful and stylish gift. Holidays will be here before you know it!
