3 Easy Ways to Plan For a Successful 2018

Happy New Year! I hope everyone is having a productive start to 2018.

Today is a quick read, but with so many people sharing their success stories on Instagram, I thought I’d share a few ways for you to have the most successful year, ever! These are simple things and they’re things that I try and do daily.

Make a monthly goal list

I’ve been doing this for over seven years. I write out the months of the year and then write out my personal goals. This can range from everything from buying a new TV to going on a trip. The first year I did this, I looked back and I accomplished everything I wrote down. The last few years, I’ve been saving my goals in a Word Doc on my desktop. It’s an easy way to reference it throughout the year.

This leads me to my next point when writing down these goals…

Create SMART goals, not resolutions

Skip the resolutions and aim for SMART goals — Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time-bound. For example, if you want to go on a 10 day trip to Thailand over the summer and you know it will cost you approximately $3,000 start by writing down the specifics, like the location and date. Then write down how much money you need to save on a monthly basis. Whenever I’m unable to save a specific amount each month, I’d also make a running list of additional money. For example, sell old clothes, babysit, pick up extra hours at work, etc.

Just make sure all of your goals are specific instead of just “go on a trip”.

Invest in yourself

This is one of the best ways to yield the highest return for your goals. When I wanted to get back into shape, I invested in a personal trainer. It was a big investment, but it kept me accountable. Whenever you have a little skin in the game, you’re  more likely to take something more serious. Sign up for that dance class if you want to be a better dancer. Buy that camera if you want to be a better photographer. Make the investment in you!

Let me know what you think about today’s post. Like I said last week, I’m going to try and start mixing in more business-related content into style posts.

Faux Fur Favorites

About today’s look

We headed over to DUMBO to snap a few photos for a recent campaign with Genesis USA. Lucky enough, it was also snowing in NYC! It was such a treat to be back in the city and see the city covered in white snow. Lots of questions about my faux fur coat, I’m wearing a size XS. It runs a little big, so I’d recommend ordering a size down unless you like the oversized look. The wool beret I picked up during my Shopbop haul. It happened to match my coat perfectly!

I’m still wearing my Dolce Vita boots. I love them! They’re obviously not ideal for the snow. I’d recommend a pair like these without a heel and these with a heel. Last, but not least, my glasses are from Zenni Optical. I wore them here and here.

Happy New Year!

xo, Olivia

Style not clear on where the faux fur coat in the merlot color is from? Did you say where you purchased it from?

Lovely read dear, and I couldnt agree more, especially on creating smart goals. Indeed, most of us focus on resolutions, which most often than not, are far-fetch promises that put pressure on ourselves. Coming up with specific, time-bound goals are more realistic, and even more fulfilling. By the way, you look lovely with that coat dear.

      Thank you! 😉

Yea, creating goals that have some time of “meat” behind them is helpful to reach those goals!
