“Dress”ing up for the Holidays

The holidays, as you know by now, are my favorite time of year! I love everything about the celebrations; the food, the quality time you get to spend with your loved ones and all of the holiday parties, of course. It is the perfect ending to the year.

I wear a lot of dresses but they all(for the most part) fit into my personal style. I have to make sure that whatever dress I do end up wearing fits my style and can be versatile- like this gorgeous Karen Kane dress from Macy’s. When it comes to one-stop shopping, Macy’s is that for me. It doesn’t hurt that the largest Macy’s in the world is just a short walk away! I can find all of the dresses, shoes, accessories, and makeup I need. You can’t beat that and the decorations inside the store are absolutely epic. It is quite the scene during this time of year. It can get a little time consuming and sometimes stressful to find that perfect holiday dress, particularly if you are looking for more than one. Don’t sweat it, try and stick with a few of these tips to get you through the holiday shopping in style and without too many headaches.

Dress Shopping Tips

  1. Choose a dress that is your style. One misnomer is that because it is the holidays, you HAVE(or strongly encouraged) to have a big shiny dress. That’s not true. However, if that is your style, then absolutely go for it. You will look amazing. Keep the style of your holiday dresses as close to your usual style as possible. If you want to add a little bit of flare, opt for ruffles or lace. That is why my Karen Kane dress was the perfect find. It has the ruffled sleeves that I love, screams holiday without being overbearing and feels amazing.
  2. Be comfortable. Dressing up doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice comfort. You will be out all night walking, socializing and dancing(hopefully). Once you are out of the cold and into the party, you will not be hiding it under your coat. The last thing you want to be doing is adjusting the whole night.
  3. Choose a color that compliments your wardrobe. I love black so it’s no surprise mine has black underneath the red lace. If you are looking to add some fun, try to plan it out with other pieces in your wardrobe. This visualization trick has helped me numerous times. I know it can be difficult but it will help you know what you need to pick up. Plus, anything you are missing you can always swing over to Macy’s and pick it up. 🙂
