Leggings worn 3 ways

HAPPY Monday! Today’s post is getting out a little late today, because I forced myself to get to bed early last night and go to the gym. That was accomplished! A few months ago I purchased the SWEAT app by Kayla Itsines and started BBG. If you’re trying to get back on track and like the BBG program, but not necessarily having the PDF with you at the gym, try the app. It makes it really easy to get through the workout.

Back to today’s post. Last week on Instagram Stories, I asked you what you’d like to see this week: Leggings or a Faux Leather Skirt. By popular demand, leggings was the request. For those who want to know how to style faux leather at work, I’m going to save that for next week.

Leggings

As you’ve probably noticed, leggings are on trend for Fall/Winter 2017. I’ve seen them styled so many ways. Some good. Some not so good. Today, I’m going to share a few style ideas for leggings both at work and for play.

When I wear leggings I follow one rule, whatever top I’m wearing, make sure it covers my booty. I follow this rule for a few reasons; I’m less self conscious when I walk around and it’s more flattering to my shape. If I wear a top that ends at my hips, it’s highlighting the widest part of my body. When I wear a longer top, it elongates my torso and gives the appearance of a longer and leaner shape.

Let’s get started with the looks. I’m sharing three looks that could be worn to a few different work environments. I typically include a corporate look, but I struggled with finding a way to wear this in a true corporate office that would align with the traditional dress code. Creative/Fashion

For those who work in a more creative office, leggings are an easy piece to add to your work wardrobe and make for a more comfortable day. For today’s look, I’m wearing one of Matt’s white button down shirts with a designer belt and nude heels. Since oversized pieces are on trend for the season, a men’s shirt is the perfect piece to wear with your favorite leggings.

Casual Office

If you’re work in a more casual office setting, go ahead and pick up a pair of leggings right this second! This is perfect to add to your weekly workear outfit. Find an oversized sweater, but not too oversized. You don’t want to look like you’re drowning in your sweater. I like finding sweaters that are a little more fitted at the bottom, it makes for a slimmer appearance and more professional. During this shoot, I put on this sweater, but it maybe looked a little too sloppy to wear to work.

A few professional pieces, like kitten heels and your favorite work watch and you’re ready for the day!

Off-Duty

Some of you might remember this look from a few weeks ago on Instagram Stories. I put together this look while at Ann Taylor and loved the way it turned out. It’s the perfect way to make leggings fun on a Friday night. The blouse is also work appropriate. Simply add a leather jacket and you have a great look for meeting up with the girls for a few cocktails to end the week.
