My Favorite Workout Classes in NYC

Trying to live a healthy lifestyle has always been something of focus for me. After having Sebastian, it’s been a little more difficult to get back to the gym. However, I’m starting to make time to work out weekly and my eating patterns are back on track. If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen RxBar in some of my recent posts. They are one of my favorite snacks when I need an extra punch of protein but don’t have the time to make myself a true meal. I also just tried SoQuick for a personal training session. SoQuick is like DryBar for personal trainers. You buy a package and you can schedule a personal trainer to come meet you anytime – Brilliant!

Over the past few weeks, I’ve slowly started to weed things out of my diet. So far, I have phased out red meat, chicken and pork. I am still eating fish and other seafood. It’s interesting, because when you remove things out of your diet, it forces you to focus on what you CAN eat. One of the biggest things I’ve noticed is that when I don’t have as many options, it actually makes it easier to eat well. I’m also not a huge dairy eater (milk, yogurt or butter), so that’s been easy to cut out of my diet. Eggs and some cheeses are two of the things that I’ll likely keep in my diet. I just love them both too much I think. 🙂 I am starting to pay attention to where the food is coming from and am trying to buy more local. It’s starting to come together and I love my new diet. I really appreciate everyone’s messages, personal stories and suggestions. Means a lot. Thank you!

For my workouts, I’m currently signed up for Classpass (you can sign up here and get $40 off your first month). It’s just so easy and it gives me the ability to try so many classes. I’m sharing my favorite studios around the city. There are endless possibilities out there but these are my favorites.

My favorite workout studios in NYC

FlyWheel

Still my favorite class to break a sweat. I’ve tried SoulCycle, but FlyWheel is still #1 in my book.

Peloton

Out of all my spin classes, Peloton is the most difficult. I always enjoyed the instructors and music. Their playlists are really good. The free apple and flavored water is always a plus, too!

Barry’s Bootcamp

My favorite place in NYC to get a good butt kicking. When I want to get back into the gym, I book Barry’s 2 days in a row!

BRICK

This ranks up with Barry’s Bootcamp. I love the HIIT (high intensity interval training) at BRICK. The instructors are always encouraging and they push you to your limit.

Kore

A little bit of a hike for me, but a great way to start a weekend. They have HIIT and keep the class going with high energy and music!

Solace

I always sign up for Sculpt, which is mix of barre, Pilates and yoga, for my off day. These days turn out to be my most painful. When I’m mentally checked-in, I love these classes.

exhale

The ultimate zen Barre class. If you’re nervous about trying Barre, give this one a go! The instructors are so friendly and they have different levels for everyone.

Flex Studio

This studio has everything – Pilates, Barre and TRX. It has one of the toughest Pilates classes. I recently discovered they have FlexPrenatal for postpartum moms. I can’t wait to try the class!

Anyone have any good recommendations for new classes in the city? I hear Orange Theory is amazing!

I love your outfit! Maybe new, cute gear will help motivate me even more!

I wish there was a Barry’s near me (Western NY). I’d love to try it one day!

Today I just started lemon water in the morning. I’ve heard this is great way to start the morning, so I’ll report back!

I started Shadowbox in DUMBO a few weeks ago (there is a location in Flatiron, too) and LOVE it! It does a great job of mixing cardio + ab work in with a boxing workout. I leave with a better all-over burn than I do at spin, but you get the same great vibe from the room and awesome instructors.
