One of the most overlooked accessories is the belt. It can be the star but often goes unused, particularly in the summer. Now, it has taken me a while to come around on the idea of wearing my dresses with a belt. But I gotta say that I love the look! It really does add some structure and polish to your outfit. Setting aside my enthusiasm for a second, and say that it doesn’t always make sense. Use your best judgement. I tend to use a belt when I just need that little something else to tie the look together or I’m just looking to add a little more detail. We spent the morning in our favorite neighborhood over in the West Village to have brunch and snap some photos. Sharing a few looks to complement with a belt this season and into the colder months ahead.

1. Suit

Wear a belt on top of your suit. Use a skinny belt. It will show off waist and is extra thinning.

2. Floor Grazing Skirt/Dress

Love long dresses and skirts, but sometimes they can overtake your body. Tie on a belt to show off your waist. You can use either a skinny belt or an oversized one for more texture.

3. Puffer Coat

Layers upon layers in the winter months can leave you looking bulky sometimes. Next time you slip on your puffy coat, keep it open and tie a belt around the extra layers to give the look some separation. Yet, it looks complete!
