3 Hairstyles for New Year’s Eve

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday with their family and friends! The last few weeks we’ve been spending a lot of time welcoming Sebastian into our lives (you might have seen him a few times on Instagram).  Thank you so much for being patient, but we’re back in full swing at Corporate Catwalk!

With that being said, you’ve probably noticed over the last few months that the blog is changing to reflect my life in New York City. I’m excited to start sharing more about family, motherhood, fashion, beauty, home and so much more! 2016 has been nothing short of amazing and looking forward to an even more blissful 2017!

Speaking of 2017, it’s just around the corner! Today, I’m sharing three easy hairstyles to try out this New Year’s Eve!

Mohawk Half – Up Braid

15-25 minutes to master

I’ve been waiting for the right opportunity to wear my hair in the mohawk half-up braid and what better time to try it out than New Year’s Eve! This season it’s been one of the most popular braids on Instagram. What I love about this style is that it can be worn to both formal and casual occasions. You can also pull your hair back in a ponytail if you want a different style to try out to your next spin class!

This look is fairly easy to accomplish. All you need to know is how to do a simple french braid. After a few practice rounds, I’ve learned that the trick is pulling your hair a little out of the braid to give it more volume. This also gives the mohawk effect! I used my curling wand to add a few more curls, making it perfect!

Check out this easy step-by-step tutorial.

Twisted Side Braid

5-10 minutes to master

This is one of my signature updos and it’s quite easy to pull off. If you’re preparations for New Year’s Eve are anything like mine, the last thing we’re worried about is our hair. Try this style as it’s super simple and beautiful. You’ll get tons of compliments and everyone will think you spent hours pampering yourself to look so sophisticated.

One minor necessity if you want to try this look, be sure to stop by a Duane Reade or Walgreens to pick up the small rubber bands. That’s a must-have for this look!

Check out my tutorial for the twisted halo braid.

Messy Side Braid Easy hairstyles for New Year's Eve Braid tutorial how to style your hair this season Corporate Catwalk New York City

Messy Side Braid

10-15 minutes to master

Heading to your friend’s house with a few other people to enjoy a casual night of boardgames and cocktails? Grab your red lipstick and try out the messy side braid. Similar to the Mohawk Half – Up Braid, you just need to know how to french braid. If you’re just learning, this is the perfect style to give it a try! The messier, the better! Structure is the last thing you want when creating this look.

Leave large chunks of hair out in the front, curl the pieces in opposite direction for that “I woke up like this look”. Toss a few bobby pins in your purse, just in case you want to pin any pieces back throughout the night.

Love this easy tutorial to show the simplicity of this look!

    • Hi Katy! Of course! The earrings are from Bauble Bar and the necklace is from Banana Republic. It’s no longer available, but I linked a similar version above.

Wishing you the very best and a happy New Year!
