I’d like to start sharing more of my beauty products. This is a non sponsored post, but I’ve been using these products, absolutely love them, and wanted to share my experience with all of you.

Hair

Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer

During NYFW, I had the opportunity to try out the new Dyson Hair Dryer at Marie Robinson. Starting on Friday, it will be available exclusively at Sephora and at more retailers later this month. As I sat down at the salon, I admired the sleek and lightweight look of the dryer. After a shampoo and conditioner with my favorite stylist, Brittany, she started to run the blow dryer over my hair. One of the first things I noticed as she began to section off my hair, she wasn’t burning my scalp. Nobody likes that 🙂 It truly does protect against extreme heat damage. As someone who uses hot tools on my hair daily, this type of technology is what I need to protect my hair against long term damage. The dryer quickly dried my hair and left my locks shiny with a little bounce.

The dryer was engineered a little different than your typical hair dryer. Dyson invested over $67 million(yes, million) utilizing 100 engineers and 4 years to develop this new technology. As you can imagine, it comes with a steep price tag at $399. So the question is, is it worth it? It’s certainly a luxury item but it will help you minimize your trips to the salons for conditioner treatments. If you’re someone who has dry and brittle hair, or someone who uses a hair dryer daily, I’d say it’s worth it. Especially, with the Dyson warranty.

Caviar Moisture Duo Kit

As part of a gift, I received the Alterna Caviar Moisture ‘Beauty To Go’ travel bag. A few months went by and I finally got around to using the shampoo and conditioner. After getting out of the shower and combing through my hair, I immediately noticed the difference in the softness of my hair. I proceeded to go through my normal hair routine, putting in Keratase Ciment Thermique Treatment and proceeding to blow dry. Surprisingly, my hair felt more conditioned and more nourished after one shampoo and condition. Again, I use a lot of heat on my hair, therefore, I need these types of moisturizers to help the overall appearance.

Skin & Face

Decorté

The Decorté set was part of a free gift from the Saks team. As part of the set, they included the Vi-Fusion Essence, Environmental Day Cream and Overnight Performance Cream. If money grew on trees, I’d continue to buy this set over and over. My skin is naturally on the dryer side. Any moisture I can maintain in my skin helps with my complexion and skin tone. The Vi-Fusion serum helps rebuild the elasticity in my skin. It can be tough to get the product on my face because the serum is thinner than other products. I only use a small amount and focus on my cheeks, forehead and neck. The creams pack in the nourishments in my skin. The only downside is the heavy rose scent. It’s pleasant after it settles into my skin, but I typically use products free of scent. This is personal preference, but if you’re someone like myself, the scent might be a little strong. They don’t test on animals, so an extra star for being environmentally and animal friendly.

Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel

I’ve been getting facials at the Mario Badescu salon for the last year. The products they use are made for different skintones. At the salon they create a “recipe” that will suits your unique skin type. The enzyme cleansing gel was part of my recommended products for cleaning and washing my face. This is one of my favorite face washes, especially for the price. It leaves my face feeling refreshed and cleansed. Traditionally, I love foaming cleaners, it’s probably more mental than anything else, but working up a lather makes me feel more complete. It took me a few times using cleansing gel to get use to this type of face wash, but I love it! Someone with naturally dry skin, I love that my skin doesn’t feel dried out after washing my face. If you’re on the market for face wash, try out this one from Mario Badescu and if you’re in NYC, give Mario Badescu salon a try!

Makeup

Mary Kay Nail polish (Gold is Bold & Rosey Encore)

A friend of mine gave me the set of metallic nail polish from the Mary Kay collection. During NYFW, metal and metallic nails were the most coveted look on the runway and with bloggers. What’s great about metallic polish, it’s fool proof! You don’t see streaks during applications and it’s also scratch resistance. If you accidentally mess up the applications, throw on another coat and it won’t look lighter or darker than your other nails (YAY!). You can always throw this in your purse for quick applications and it dries instantly. Like any polish, if you want it to last for a few days use a base and top coat for full coverage. The only thing I didn’t enjoy about the polish is the time it took to remove it from my nails. It does take a little longer than your everyday polish. I used an acetone nail polish remover and it took twice as long. For the 9-5 working women, try the metallic trend for the office. Although it’s not your typical nail color, it’s subtle enough for any day at the office…maybe skip it turing your big meetings, though. 🙂

IT Cosmetic Brow Power

This is the your everyday and never leave home without brow powder. After a minor accident as a child and surviving the 90s with ultra thin brows, my brows have seen better days. Nine months ago, I started microblading for my brows at the Evertrue salon in NYC. It comes at a cost, but someone like myself, it was worth every penny. The salon doesn’t recommend the procedure for pregnant women, so in the meantime, I’ve been using the IT brow powder and it’s been a lifesaver! The applicator is small and gets all the fine lines needed to shape the perfect brow. It also gives your brows a natural look. If you apply too much on the brow, you can simply brush off the extra for an all natural brow.

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Eau de Parfum Spray

Flowerbomb has been popular for years. Most of my friends own this beloved perfume and every time they wear it, I ask the question, “What are you wearing???” Like I said earlier, I’m currently in the phase of non-fragranced products. After years of wearing perfume to work, upon my move to NYC, I stopped putting it on in the mornings. I think it’s partly because I couldn’t settle on a scent and my perfumes were not easily accessible. A good friend of mine sent me this gift in the mail and I haven’t stopped wearing it since. The fragrance smells like a robust bouquet of fresh flowers, but not overwhelming. The scent is more appropriate for spring and summer, but if you want something that is an everyday scent to wear to work and lasts the entire workday, give this perfume a try the next time you’re at Nordstrom or Sephora. They typically give samples. Give it a shot!

Hope you enjoyed reading and you were able to find a couple new additions to your beauty collection. Have a great week!!

xo, Olivia
