3 Ways to Add a Feminine Touch to Workwear

Finding creativity in your wardrobe can be difficult. We all have our staples like our go-to skirt, a blazer, a blouse, and of course our heels. 🙂 However, we can be left asking ourselves What else can I do to add just a little something extra to complete this look? So, I wanted the focus for this post to be on a few things we can do to really add that little something extra. Here are three ways to include a feminine touch to your daily workwear outfits.

Dainty Details

When it comes to work blouses, we’ve all seen our fair share of buttons and ruffles. Instead of opting for a traditional blouse, choose something with dainty details, like I’m wearing above. The blouse, originally from Zara, has a peter pan collar and petite bow around the neck. An easy way to add this type of detail to a button down shirt is to tie ribbon around your neck and secure the back with a safety pin. You’ll come to find that these types of tops will look good with almost all of your work skirts and pants.

Here are some of my favorite details!

Add Texture

Pencil skirts will always be a classic piece to wear to work but if you want to add a touch of personality to an outfit, look for skirts with texture. Try searching for skirts that have pleats, a scalloped hem or even a wrap skirt (like this one here).

Bright Lip Color

I love my nude lipstick but sometimes you need to make a switch for something brighter. It can be somewhat scary at first, but you just need to go for it sometimes. It makes a subtle statement and it’s always nice to see a little color in the office.

Below are some great options!

If you’ve never owned a pleated skirt, try out this black pleated skirt from J.Crew. The skirt is also available in a shorter version in black and cabernet.  For anyone who works in a more casual office, this would look great with a button-down shirt and flats.  A few years ago, I wore a similar skirt with a leopard blouse and black heels (check out my dark dark hair)!

Those of you who want to add a little more color to your wardrobe, try this blush pink pleated midi skirt and lightweight blouse. The look is ideal as we transition later from summer to fall. This is how I wore the look a few years ago.

Those pleated skirts are not just for warm weather. You can seamlessly transition the skirt from summer to fall with a knit sweater. For ladies who are taller, try out a chunky knit sweater with a pleated midi skirt. It’s comfortable and fashionable, especially if you work in a more creative workplace. Here’s a similar look that I wore with a white pleated skirt (love this style) and cropped sweater.

For a casual weekend look, I typically wear my pleated midi skirts with nude heels or even open toe sandals like I wore here.
