One of my favorite denim brands, DL1961, recently launched their sister brand the blue shirt shop. If you’re not familiar with DL1961, they’re a New York based denim company creating denim for every body type, they have a wide selection at Bloomingdales and Nordstroms. Last year I discovered the brand half-way through the summer. After sifting through thirty plus pairs of short shorts, I found the DL1961 denim shorts and I love the fit, wash and price point for my style. I’ve continue to incorporate their denim pieces into my wardrobe. Needless to say, I’m excited about their the blue shirt shop. As a long time fan of button down, this gives me additional options when shopping for shirts to wear for business and play.
When I think about my off-duty outfit for spring, this is the look — white cropped denim, blue button down shirt with neutral accessories. The is an easy way to look stylish and flawless when you’re not in the office and meeting an old friend for coffee (I’m wearing the DL1961 Florence Cropped Denim in porcelain and the Mercer and Spring button down by the blue shirt shop). The modern women needs something that is easy, versatile and stylish. She needs to look flawless, but with minimal effort. Everyone loves a blue shirt because it’s functional and sexy. It’s a piece we stole from our boyfriend’s closet and it looks great on us! What I love about a blue button down is that it represents whatever you want it to. Whether it’s buttoned up with a blazer for work or with the sleeves rolled up while out for coffee, how you wear this shirt with your wardrobe is 100% up you!
A few details about the shirt, it’s not your typical work button down shirt. It’s soft and moves with your body, not the typically starched button down shirt we’ve seen in stores. One of my biggest problems when shopping for button down shirts is the shirt being too small at the bust and having a gap between buttons. Most days I wear a fitted cami to keep any unwanted eyes looking through the gaps between my buttons. I’m wearing an XS and I didn’t have that problem with the Mercer and Spring shirt (thank goodness). And for the denim, I love everything about these jeans. These are the perfect fit for my body type. My body is square shaped, therefore m y waist is slightly smaller than my hips, so these jeans sit perfectly below my waistline, making it flattering for my body and more importantly…comfortable! Since I’m petite, the cropped denim hit my ankles at the perfect place for me to show off my nude heels or favorite tennis shoes.
The next time you have nothing to wear, think about the uniform. Grab a pair of white denim and blue button down and you’ll be picture perfect for your next outing!
